Anyone! Adults or teenagers. If you or someone you know has unwanted hair, electrolysis is safe and highly effective when performed correctly on all hair and skin types.
Most describe electrolysis as a mild discomfort in the form of a warming or tingling sensation. BareSkin Beauty uses the latest technology, including Apilus Xcell Pro and other unique techniques to minimize the sensations. Oftentimes, clients fall asleep during treatment. Those with low pain tolerance are encouraged to take a pain reliever up to 45 minutes prior to treatment. It is also recommended to use a topical numbing cream and cover the area in plastic wrap at least 45 minutes prior to treatment. This will ensure your experience is as painless as possible.
Electrolysis requires the same hair to be treated multiple times before it’s permanently destroyed. In the beginning, plan to see your electrologist weekly or bi-weekly for the best results. As you progress, your treatment time and frequency of appointments will decrease.
The amount of treatments needed is different for everyone because the amount of active follicles vary from person to person. On average, it takes about 18 months with regular and consistent treatments. It is best to carefully follow your curated treatment plan provided by your electrologist.
Anywhere hair grows, with the exception of the inner nostrils and ear canals.
Exfoliating 1-2 times a week will help prevent ingrown hairs. Moisturizing the skin and staying super hydrated makes treatment more comfortable, effective, and longer-lasting.
There may be redness, swelling, welting, and itching at the treatment site immediately after your session. If you experience any of these side effects, they should become less and less common after the first few treatments. If the skin is swollen or feels warm to the touch, apply a cold compress to the area with clean hands.
Aftercare will severely impact the way your skin will look and heal. These temporary side effects must be treated with ultimate care to prevent permanent skin damage.
24-48 hours after treatment is crucial because your pores will be microscopically open and vulnerable to bacteria. Avoid touching your face with dirty hands. Cleanse with a gentle non-abrasive cleanse, pat dry, and apply Bacitracin or Neosporin.
After you have begun your electrolysis journey, for best results, do not use any method that involves pulling the hair from the root, including waxing, tweezing, and sugaring. These methods of hair removal will undo, and effectively reverse, the work of electrolysis and stimulate blood supply, which nourishes the remaining cells, allowing for hair growth, which will be deeper, thicker and stronger. This creates a more difficult case for the electrologist and is a waste of time and financial investment. Instead, shaving, trimming, or using a cream depilatory to remove the hair in between treatments is suggested. It is important to stay on a regular schedule with your electrologist because regular sessions are crucial to achieve effective and lasting hair removal results.
Frequent and/or regular treatments lead to faster and long-lasting results. The further apart the sessions, the more time it will take to remove the unwanted hair permanently. Overall, your treatment will be less effective. Stick to your treatment plan even when you feel there is not much hair left, some follicles may still be “sleeping.”
We lovingly ask that all changes or cancellations be made 48 hours prior to your appointment time. Credit card information is required when scheduling an appointment. No-shows, cancellations, or reschedules made after the 48-hour time frame will result in a loss of your deposit and a charge for the remaining balance. This policy ensures the respect of the BareSkin Beauty community.
Please give as much advance notice as possible regarding late arrivals since a late arrival will not necessarily shift your appointment to a later time. Please note, you may have to reschedule your service if it cannot be completed in the remaining time frame unless you are okay with the lesser time or you may be charged for a missed appointment.
I do not accept Care Credit or medical insurance. However, I am more than happy to create a treatment plan that fits your budget.
Electrolysis is a salon service. While monetary tips are greatly appreciated, it is never a requirement.
